Happy Halloween

 

Happy Halloween!!!!  Each year I put together costumes made specifically to go over snow suits. Generally they are home made costumes as they are the most fun to create and that's what I did growing up. However, this year I made an exception and bought the girls these "fancy" outfits (they were on sale LOL). They absolutely LOVED them!! They do make a pretty adorable pirate and princess!!

Brains, worms, bobbing for DONUTS!!

Today I stayed with my youngest girl Ely in her pre-k class for their Halloween Party!! They had it all, worms, spiders, games, treats and Bobbing for DONUTS!!!! That was a very YUMMY twist on the traditional game of apples.  Of course my very shy Ely didn't want to go for the donut so MOM had to. LOL. Took me a couple of tries but I did it!!  Wonder what FUN we'll have in Emm's class tomorrow??

 

 

 

 

Frosty frosty day

 

These last few days have been nothing but heavy ice fog and frosty things!!! The weatherman says a chinook is headed our way...hmmm wonder when???

 

 

 

Frost on the Pumpkin

There's a line in the old Cal Smith song  "Country Bumpkin" about "frost on the pumpkin".  (I love old old country songs, strange I know. )

 

Anyhooo, I was playing outside with my girls today and noticed that our pumpkins are looking a bit frosty.  These are just a few on our front step, thanks to Auntie Cheryl we have a nice spooky pumpkin patch for our Halloween display this year.

 

 

 

Where do they go?

 

 

I went for a drive the other day and came upon some train tracks, ever wonder just how far they really go?? They seem to be fading fast around small towns these days. At one time they were the way to travel and now they seem to haul freight rather than passengers.

A couple of weeks ago when leaves still scattered the ground I tried taking some photos of my girls.  Well as luck would have it, one would smile and the other wouldn't. One would cooperate and the other NOT!! LOL.  I suppose that's the way with sisters and children. At any rate I did end up with a few cute captures.

 

 

 

Her Favourite time of the year

 

 

First thing this morning, Emm looks out her window and lets out an excited "Woo Hoo". This girl LIVES for winter! She even asked me today if she could shovel the snow. LOL Oh Yes Dear of course you can!! The wind was blowin' from the North and the snow was coming down in heaps today. I bet I shoveled our driveway about 3 times today (darn drifts).  First thing she asks when she got home from school was to play in the snow.  I let her dog Ben out with her and I'm not really sure who had more fun, him or her.

 

 

 

Crabapples Anyone??

 

I kept thinking to myself as I was out jogging this morning with my pal Ben that I really should carry my camera along. Although I'd probably spend more time taking photos than working out. These crabapple trees have produced a lot of apples this season, each day I'd drive by and there would be as many on the ground as were on the tree. Looks like there are still plenty of apples for the picking.

 

 

 

 

A very Creative Pumpkin

 

 

We certainly had a GREAT time today at our Halloween Block Party. Parents turned into kids and got covered in gooey pumpkin slop!! One young lady was very creative and thus won our pumpkin contest. (sadly no prizes were awarded. lol) Shay (with the help of her Aunt) cleaned out and carved a very creative pumpkin complete with worms and a rat!! GROSSSS!!!! Awesome job Shay.

 

 

 

 

 

 



Ready to Pounce

 

 

 

Whenever Buster is in the mood to play he'll sit  in front of Ben and play with his paw or go around to the back end and attack Bens tail.  It's quite something to watch actually cause Buster's whole head will fit right into Bens mouth. Buster usually takes a tuft or two of Bens fur out of his tail but no one has hurt the other...yet.  Sams getting to old to play so it's nice to see a cat and dog getting along.

A Room with a View

 

In the distance you can see the silhouette of the mountains, a wonderful view from our upstairs TV Room.  You see I was a bit lazy tonight and rather than run up the street and down the main road to capture this pretty sunset I just went upstairs to the TV room and shot this through the window.   Not my best photograph but it's still a pretty sunset. This room has the best view!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Leaves and kids

 

 

Find a large pile of leaves and toss them up or jump right in!! Either one will bring on fits of giggles and laughter no matter how old or young you are.  These boys are probably my girls' best friends ever!! (Their mom is one of my BFF's) Evan has the most unique imagination and personality of anyone I've ever met. They came to visit us at Thanksgiving and what FUN they had playing in the leaves.

Old Treasures

 

Old Homesteads are a passion of mine to photograph well other than my girls that is. The couple that own this land have been bombarded with requests to take some boards, windows, doors etc. You name it people want to take it and turn what's old into something new. I know they are doing their very best to take this old barn down the safe way. I am amazed at those individuals that are able to turn these old barn boards into something useful and new.

Phew!! I was worried for a split second when that snow came that it may stick around. THANKFULLY it left as fast as it came. 

 

What a wonderful day it  was today, the sun is out, the wind is "breezy" but it's a warm wind (well sort of) The girls have spent the better part of the day outside with their friends playing. My Bob's been busy helping out neighbor Bob with different tasks and I was very fortunate to spend an hour or so with a FUN family sharing their story with family photos.  Now I ask you, "How does it get any better than this!!"

 

He's BAACK!!

AH YES, for once the weather people were correct and SNOW covered the ground. While it didn't do much for me it did however, send my girls into fits of giggles and excitement. The tiny bit of snow left on our front lawn did not deter my girl Emm from enlisting the  help of her buddy Shay to build their first snowman of the season!  They put a lot of effort and thought into this fella.

 

 

 

 

I had one very WET sopping mess to clean up when she came in!!! Her snow suit was drenched.  Ahh yes tis only a preview of what's to come this winter. I think I'm going to need to go shopping for a new snowsuit for this girl cause she'll wear out the ones we have at home before the season is done.

The Armstrong Family

Here's a tiny hint of my session today with the Armstrong Family. They were troopers!! The wind was quite "blustery" today and chilly, a sure sign  that winter is on it's way.

Well if you follow my posts a few weeks ago I posted a photo of these 5 kids back when they were barely out of diapers. Lastnight I took these photos of them playing in the leaves. WOW they certainly have grown into some GREAT kids!!! Next year we'll add little Liam into the photo.

 

 

 

 



Days r numbered...

I met the lady who owns this acreage and I offered to take some photos of the place for her. You see she plans to tear down the barn and other old buildings and create a campground in its place. A Wonderful Idea I think!! The house was built in 1924 and I'm sure the barn was as well. It's a lovely old barn and I'd love to hear the stories it could tell.

 

 

 

 

 

Can u see the mountains?

 

Good Night Sun...thanks for warming up our day. 

 

I drive by this view probably 4x a day, on this day the mountains were very clear and noticeable. However, I was once again absent-minded and FORGOT to take my camera along to take some photos.  Lastnight as the sun was setting I wandered out to see if I could still see those lovely mountains and there is a "hint" of them in the distance.  I am a prairie girl at heart and LOVE my rolling hills and wide open spaces but the mountains are just as lovely.

 

 

 

No that's not Snow...is it??

 

Well the weather man was right!!! Snow came today..it left almost as quickly though. (thank goodness) I love Fall and I'd like it to stick around for a bit as we've got some outdoor  things planned for October. Winter can come much later like perhaps Dec or Jan!!!

 

 

 

Is there moisture in those clouds?

It wasn't very long ago that we were visiting the family at the farm and it was pretty cloudy out. Of course they were in the field with harvest and we were all thinking "uh oh rain." However, my dad at 80yrs old says "Nope there's no rain in those clouds." He was right!!!  These clouds are to the East and there are some pretty dark ones to the South and West so I'm wondering if we'll get any more moisture.

Hmmm....did the wind do this to our trampoline or was there human intervention? I was looking out our livingroom window this morning and "uh oh" where's the trampoline? Emm says "Mom it's over there".  Low and behold this is what I found.  Now we've had some whopper wind storms lately and it's never moved before!!!! Makes me go hmmmm.
