One done, one to go

Well 2 days later I've got One of the projects completed! Emm's bunk beds are painted and her room cleaned out and put back together. I'm very pleased with how well it turned out. Sure hope she'll be surprised.

This is a sneak peak into Ely's room. She has 2 walls brown and 2 walls pink. I'm almost finished, just have one last coat of paint to put on in a corner and then I can clean and put her room back together. Tomorrow I'll post the finished product.

A BIG THANK  YOU to my hubby for taping and doing the trim in Ely's room. Those are 2 jobs I really don't like!!

First Fire of 2013

After a fun filled day with family, turkey, choc. dessert Bob and I found ourselves in a very quiet house. The girls are spending their Easter/Spring Break at Papa & Grandmas farm. It's very strange to have the house soo quiet. It was a beautiful day yesterday and the evening was so calm that we decided to have a bonfire!! There's nothing quite like a hot dog cooked over an open fire. However, the fire didn't last long as it cools off quickly, still was nice to enjoy the first fire of 2013.

Another Gorgeous Sky

What a BEAUTIFUL day today!! I actually went outside in  a t-shirt and pants  without a sweater or coat!!! It was wonderful to sit and bask in the sunshine today.

The thaw is on!!

Mud Mud MuD!!! The thaw is on people!!! Time to dig out the hip waiters, rubber boots, splash pants and anything that is easily washed off! Our neighbourhood is one giant mud hole these days. The sun is out and warming everything up. I love seeing the sun and it's so nice to sit on the front step with an  ice cream. Just wish my girls would stay OUT of the MUD!!

Big Helpers

I have fond memories baking with my mom as a little girl, my sister and I always got to lick the bowl and the beaters once Mom was done. That was always a special treat. Now when I bake my girls  are always there helping out and anxiously awaiting the beaters and bowl to clean up.  Today Ely had a friend over and they were very eager  to help me clean out the bowls.  One has a brownie batter bowl and the other choc. chip cookie dough bowl.

Thief Thief!!

The youngest Egg Gatherers in the neighbourhood.  The girls are sitting so nicely with big smiles all happy with their treasures. The boys....well one's had enough of this chilly snow and egg finding while the other seems to be helping himself to some eggs.  LOL They sure are cute though.

Easter PICS

Our first annual Wildlfower Ranch Easter Hunt was a success!! The weather was sunny but the wind was chilly. However, that did NOT stop the kids!! Pails were hid in trees, snowbanks and playground equipment, eggs were left all over the playground and park. The kids happily searched for their treats while the adults chatted it up in the warmth of a garage.  Thanks everyone for all your help.

My fav of the day. These two are quite the "posers". Very pretty girls too.

Neighbourhood Easter Fun

The Easter Bunny visited our neighbourhood a week early this year. He left brightly coloured pails in the trees, on rocks and in the snow, each with a childs name on it with goodies inside. The kids then had to search in the snow and trees for eggs that he might of left.  It was a chilly afternoon but a GREAT time was had by all. Now the clean up begins and we anxiously await the next neighbourhood Party!!

Diamond in the Rough

I have a fascination with old buildings and escpecially run down buildings. Why? I'm not sure. Perhaps its the hidden story that lies in them. One day I'll ask for permission to go into this property and take a closer look and see what "diamonds" are hidden in the rough.

On a side note I took this photo on Wednesday evening when it seemed like "spring" was going to be here. Alas yesterday you couldn't even see this old barn.

Hello Spring

Well today was the first day of Spring. As the day passed the skies opened the sun shone bright and the wind was blowin'. However, the wind didn't blow for long but the sun did stay for the day. Needless to say there are puddles galore around town. Wonder if they sell hip waiters for kids??

King of the skies

On our way home from school today I noticed this majestic bird high in the tree. However I did NOT have my camera with me. SO it was a race home to grab the camera and hope he stayed where he was high in the tree. Thankfully he stayed where he was and I was able to capture some shots. This shot was for my hubby as this is his favourite bird!!

Lots of Tracks!

Hmmmm there are a lot of tracks in the back yard. Is it the Easter Bunny scouting our house or perhaps that elusive Partridge?? Maybe I should take some "hunting" lessons from my hubby on how to catch him!

Ugh! Another Blustery Day

Another Blustery, wintery day!!! Although my intention for todays photo was to capture a shot of a partridge. There have been a couple wandering around our backyard with a rabbit. Alas I was not quick enough so I have another wintery shot with blowing snow and grey skies.

Eggs, eggs, eggs

Today was one of those cold, snowy days where you'd like to just  curl up with a good book and a warm blanket. As much as I would've liked that we had a FUN day with great friends decorating Easter Eggs.  We tried a new thing this year and put food colouring in shaving cream and rolled our eggs around in it. The girls ahd ton of fun. Thanks Summer, Shay, Amanda and Jocelyn for coming over and having some fun with us.

Where r u Spring?

I spotted this fella the other day and I was very hopeful that Spring was right around the corner. Alas that corner seems to be a bit further than I thought. Today we are getting light flurries and a cloudy sky. UGH!!

Peeling back the layers

Lots of layers on this old house both inside and out. It's so much fun to wander around and see what was used to build and decorate houses years ago. I can just imagine in 50yrs or more what my kids or grandkids will use to build or deocrate their houses.  Thanks again Dallas for a fun day I learnt some very helpful tips/tricks.

Ahhh Blue Skies

Look Up, look waaaay UP!!!

This yard was full of trees, big and small, broken and bent. We are going to make another trip to this yard once the snow is gone. If you were to stand still and listen you could almost here the adventures that were had in these trees.

Photography Play Date

Dallas and I have been wanting to do have a "Photography Play date" for weeks now. Today we finally managed to have one. What FUN we had, Emm tagged along and got to explore with us. We found two old abandoned farm houses and what treasures they held for us. Can hardly wait until the next "play date" Thanks Dallas!!

Girls and Dogs

Finally a wonderful day full of blue sky and sun shine!! The girls enjoy walking the dogs and now they are bigger they want to hold leashes. Sam is no problem for Ely they are both the same speed. Emm usually takes Ben although he still rarely listens to her she is getting better making him listen. They both have tons of energy to spare.

Snoopy's Home

Looks like Snoopy is not home!!!

This lot is across from the school the girls go to. There was a house here that had been abandoned for what seemed like forever. Each time I drove past this house I kept thinking "I need to photograph that house." Well I put it off too long and now the house is no longer there. However, "Snoopy's" house is! Although I think "Snoopy" is long gone!

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'

First snowfall or not this dog loves to roll around inthe white stuff. Not sure if it helps cool him down or maybe he has an itchy back, or perhaps he just likes to be goofy!! Either way everytime he's outside you can almost guarantee he'll be rollin' around.

Blankets, Blankets, and more blankets

Well the weatherman was right!!! We've got us one doozy of a snow storm happening today. I had high hopes that it would miss us but I was wrong! Needless to say the kids nor myself ventured outside today. Even old Sam huddled under the blankets.

Somewhere under that blanket is my girl playing on her ipod!

An Easterly view! YUCKY!!!

Saturday 2 March 2013

Just a couple of girls

Ahh Sleepovers, slumber parties are such FUN!!! Every little girl loves to have parties of any kind.   Emm is having one tonight with her best friend Shay!! I set up the TV Room upstairs for them with  an airmattress, pillows, blankets, popcorn and water. They were playing on their ipods earlier!! Times sure have changed since I was a little girl. I remember many nights spent at the Laisnez Farm huddled on couches pulled together watching VHS movies and having snacks. Oh to be young again.

Wonder how much giggling will happen ??

Friday 1 March 2013

A fine Masterpiece!

What a FUN Sunshine loving DAY!!! Ely had a friend over today and all of us played outside for most of the afternoon.  Well okay I didn't play so much as cleaning up dog poop!! We took the dogs for a run/walk which resulted in everyone soaked and muddy but hey it was a FUN time. The girls along with the neighbour kids made this wonderful work of art!! I think everyone is looking forward to SPRING!!! Sure hope Mr. Weatherman is WRONG and that snow does NOT find us!!

What's in a skull??

Ahh yes ever wondered what's inside the head of an Elk??? No! Well here ya go, just bones!! LOL.  This the upside  down view of the inside of an Elks head. It's the first Bull Elk my hubby shot. I've finally convinced him to mount it so we can hang it in the house. He was sooo excited when he shot it 2yrs ago. He was like a kid at Christmas.

This is what the whole head and antlers look like. I'm anxious for him to mount it, sure hope I've got the wall space cause them antlers are BIG!! Tasty critters those Elk are!!!
