Dusty ol' Farmer!!

Harvest is the best time of year on the farm (at least in my opinion). It's busy for sure and if you stick around for any length of time you're sure to have a job. My girls had their combine and truck rides last weekend, well tonight Mom got a ride too!!! I'm sure I'll be out again and again and again with camera in hand this weekend. Happy Harvesting everyone!!

Spray Park

Tuesday, the last summer fun day before school started we headed to the spray park with friends. It's an awesome park and the girls had so much fun playing. I've drove past it numerous times and always meant to take the girls down but we just never got around to it, until this week!! Next summer we will definatley visit this park more often!!!

Grade 1!!!

GRADE 1!!! WOW did it get here fast! I'm really not sure where the time has went but it seems like yesterday she was toddling around the house chasing me. She was so very excited and a bit nervous to start school today. Being a parent is the most rewarding thing ever but what people fail to tell you is that school is very TOUGH on a parent!!! Will they pay attention, will they make friends, hope they don't eat all their lunch at snack time, wash your hands after using the washroom, the list is endless. For the most part I had no problem taking her to Grade 1 this am, I was so excited for her and a bit nervous too. School is an adventure and one I hope she'll love!!

Bonfire Fun

Who doesn't like a bonfire and the tasty treats you can make over one?? While at the farm on the weekend Auntie Cheryl had a "great idea" to have one Saturday night at her place. I'm not really sure who had more fun, the kids or the adults (who really are just big kids).  They jumped bikes over a jump and played hide and seek in the dark. I'm thinking Grandma is the biggest kid of all cause she started the hide and seek game and even took a turn or two over the jump on a bike, and took each kid on a piggy back ride over the jump. LOL. Yes indeedy Bonfires are FUN FUN FUN!!

Going for a walk

The sun was shining, the wind was a blowin' so Ben and I headed out for a walk.  We didn't go too far only from my mom's house to my sisters house, however, there's lots to see in that short distance. I meant to walk further but I detoured to my sisters house for a morning visit.

Quiet time...

Shhhh they're sleeping!!! The miles they make in a day just amaze me. Bed time comes around and it's always the same story "Mom I'm not tired", "Mom I'm not ready for bed yet". They can stall and come up with all sorts of reasons why they should stay up just a little bit longer. It sure doesn't take long for those big blue eyes to close once that blonde head has hit the pillow!!

Gettin' Ready

Yup it's that time of year again!!! My hubby has been gettin' his hunting gear ready for a couple of weeks now.  Thus the large pile of  "supplies" in the garage, tree stand, target, bow, binos, tarp straps, zip ties, lots of camo stuff.  He's already put one tree stand up in a new spot, and sadly got bitten by two hungry wasps. OUCH!! Tomorrow he'll venture off to another new spot and put up another stand.  Bow season kicks off on Sept 1st and he'll be ready!!! After 7yrs of marriage I'm gettin' good at remembering the names of his gear and when Bow and Rifle season start. Just not sure if I want to go with him yet or not. He taught me how to shoot a gun last year, however I'm not sure if I want to shoot an animal or not, perhaps I'll tag along but take my Camera to "shoot" things. LOL
Best of Luck this season Bob!!

Syncronized Dancers

I love the quiet hours of the morning when all is still. I was up when my hubby left for work at 6:30am this morning and I noticed what a Gorgeous sunrise we had. I threw on some clothes and grabbed my camera and wandered over to the park. On my way I heard a "hissing" ahh yes the automatic sprinklers were on.  They were moving slowly and all in sync, reminded me of a dance. In just a few hours this park will no longer be quiet as I'm certain my girls will want to go play.  It's a great thing this park is only 2 doors down.

"Can the kids come out to play?"

Lastnight the front door opened and I heard "can the kids come out to play?" Well our girls were bathed and almost ready for bed but dad said "go ahead" and out they went. Pretty soon in our backyard were 7 little kids all under the age of 8!! The new neighbours that have moved in behind us have 3 kids, the neighbours beside us have 2 and we have 2. They all are very close in age and all seem to play very well together.  It's very nice cause all of our backyards run into each other we have grass and the others have dirt so it's a win win all around. I'm not sure if we'll end up putting up a fence next year or not, it's great to see the kids making new friends!!

Mountain of dirt

These mountains of dirt are just a stones throw away from our backyard. In the middle of these mountains is a basement being cribbed and framed for a new home. Houses are popping up in our neighbourhood like weeds in a garden. I'm sure the neighbour kids along with our  own girls would just love to go over and dig dig dig and see what sorts of "things" they could build in these large dirt piles.  So far we've been lucky and no one has asked or wandered over there to inspect these dirt piles.

Many many many moons ago, my hubby used to ride motorbikes, very fast motorbikes I guess. His best bud to ride with was Dario!! Six years ago I met Dario and he was kind enough to lend Bob and I bike and off we all went on a ride in New Brunswick.  Thursday evening Dario rode into our driveway! This man is 69 yrs young and left New Brunswick on Aug 7th and arrived here on Thursday. He left our house this morning for BC, he should arrive home in NB sometime next week. He is a very kind man, our girls love him and my hubby loves him like a brother and misses him soo.

Zoo favourites

The one animal my girl Emm wanted to see yesterday was the Giraffe! Took us awhile to find the one and only giraffe, turns out he was hiding in the trees.  The baby tigers are very cute, there are 3 however my photo of them is not the best as there was a glare off the viewing glass and Mom had them hidden by a tree. UGH!! The Red Panda is a very cute and cuddly looking creature. "Alice the Camel" was taking a nap in the warm sun.

Penguins, penguins, penguins

I think my new favourite animal is the PENGUIN!!! They are sooo adorable and tiny. I knew they were small creatures but I didn't realize how tiny some of them really are. I think I snapped more photos today of the penguins than I did of any thing else at the Zoo, my kids included.  A bit of advice for anyone wanting to see them, go very early in the morning as to avoid  any long lineups.

Shhh he's sleeping.

Four Amigos

Meet the four amigos... Mady, Emm, Kinley, Ely.  These four have been the best kids this week and have played, played, played so well it's great. We've loved having them here visiting and will be sad to see them leave. Tomorrow we're off to the zoo with these four animals, in the words of my sister "almost nothing can go wrong." LOL

Crazy Storm!!

We noticed the clouds forming and the sky to the west got very dark, we quickly put the new vehicle in the garage and ran around shutting windows. Then BAM!!! The winds howled, rain pelted the windows then the hail followed too. I'm not sure I've ever witnessed a storm like this before. The kids ran to the basement while my hubby and I ran around from window to window watching it (I was trying to get some pics too. ) It only lasted about 15-20min but WOWZA what a storm.

Power was out at the swimming pool and various other places.

View from our front door

our backyard, usually we can see the new house being built but not today

The ditch between Husky and Hwy 1

Same ditch, there's the Husky Truck stop on Hwy 1

My hubby showing us how high the water level is.

This ol' tree was snapped in the storm. Most of the trees around town suffered damage.
