View from Train

A few photos from our train ride on Saturday. I love the Fall and all the wonderful colours that comes with it.

Engine 41

Engine 41 runs from Stettler to Big Valley and this past weekend the Train Station at Big Valley turned 100yrs!!! I've never been on this train until Saturday and we were treated with a small ride. What FUN. I wonder how many passengers this  old engine has hauled around and how many tracks it's been on.

Playin' on the Boardwalk

Every year I try to take some nice photos of my girls to send far and wide to those family and friends we rarely get to see. This year we tried some on the boardwalk in Big Valley, they love to run around and play on the old boards and rails.

My little farmer

It was "dress like a farmer" day today at school and all I heard was "what does Papa wear" and "Dustin wears dirty jeans." LOL. Well I pulled out the overalls and cowboy boots as they both had to wear their boots too, by the end of the day they resembled "dirty farmers" that's for sure.

View from my door

We had another gorgeous sunset tonight and I ran out to capture it and wouldn't ya know I've got the wrong lens on!!! Darn it!!! It's still a nice sunset, just would've been a lot closer with the longer lens.  Oh well. I love my view!!!

sleepy kitty

Life as our cat Buster is pretty sweet. He sleeps all day, walks around like he owns the joint, plays with the "big dog" and scares the crap out of the "little dog" and has the run of the basement at night. (cause he likes to play at night on my bed and that is not happening).  Oh yes he loves my favourite chair too, today I caught him napping in it again.

Big Ben

Gentle Ben as we call him. He loves his ball and loves to play catch. Now if I could just get him to take all the rocks off my lawn that he's put there, you see he'll play catch with anything he can carry in his mouth.

This is how you go down a hill

I've watched these kids have more fun in the last couple of months than they have in a long time.  The neighbours lot is on a slight hill and the kids love to go down that hill in whatever is close, a wagon, tonka truck, bike. These 3 girls were sooo dirty at the end of the day, they sure did have a ton of fun though.

As the sun goes down

As the sun was going to bed lastnight our neighbourhood was still up and enjoying some "fun" time together. The kids were all playing together and the adults were gathered around a fire pit enjoying some "adult" time.  We have moved into one heck of a nice neighbourhood. Sorry about not posting this sooner but we were having a bit too much fun and I just plumb forgot! LOL

A sneak peek

Here is a sneak peek from the very FUN photo session I did this afternoon. I've got a lot of sorting and editing to do tomorrow for these two and judging from what I've looked through already it's going to be tough to pick the "best" photo.  Congratulations Bryce & Callan on your engagement and all the best in your future together.  Stay tuned on my other blog for more photos.  (This is a rough photo as I've not edited it at all.)

Birds of a feather

Walking out to the car this morning I noticed about 4 different flocks of geese flying overhead. Of  course I did NOT have my camera ready so I missed the best shots. I dare say winter is on its way as all of these flocks were headed SOUTH.  Sure hope it's late getting here.

CHEEESE

This little gal certainly knows what to do when she sees a camera!! She's just too darn cute NOT to photograph.  The girls and I took a road trip to Lacombe today for her big brothers 4th birthday party.  It wasn't very long ago that this little gal turned the big 1yr!! It was very nice to spend some time with her and her big sister and big brother and cousins today.  Now that we live closer we'll have to do more road trips for visits!!

A FUN session

This neat lady called me a week ago and inquired about an "engagement photo session" with me. She sounded like a lot of FUN and said her and her fiance were 2 of the most "unphotogenic" people ever. Well I believe I proved her wrong tonight! They were a lot of fun to work with and the cutest dog. In just over an hour and a half we took about 140 shots. Sure hope they like them.

Neighbours

We finally have new neighbours next door to us and what a cutie pie she is!!! Her parents are very nice and this little girl is the happiest and sweetest thing ever!! Her name is Afea (I hope I spelt it correctly) she's 8months and a joy to watch.  We were going for a nature walk tonight when we stopped by the park to visit some other neighbours and friends, needless to say the nature walk never happened. LOL oh well there's always tomorrow.

Not the best shot but she's still cute

A day at the beach

Seems like it was only yesterday that we were at Bluebird beach with our BFF's. Our kids look so little then and now they seem so grown up. My time really does fly when you're not looking.

Searching for rocks on the beach.

Sure do miss these 2!

This lady loves the sand and the sun!! Miss you!!

Remember when...

Ahh the Pettigrew boys and the Briggs girls!!  I remember this day well, Christina and I had taken the kids into Bud Miller park in Lloydminster for lunch and some play time.  We all had such a great time, even now when we hook up with the Pettigrews it's like time has stood still and we all just pick up where we left off. Now they have a 4th boy and I'm soo happy for them and we all can't wait to meet little Liam.

New Slippers

Lastnight Uncle Jason arrived from Yellowknife with a gift for the girls, Auntie Kellie had made them each a pair of gorgeous slippers.  Ely's have white fur and pink flowers and Emm's have brown fur and purple flowers.  They absolutely LOVE them!!! A keepsake they will treasure forever as Auntie says they are the only slippers shes made!! A great job you did on  your first pairs of slippers! Seems like the North is agreeing with you.  Thank You Auntie Kellie!!

Fall Fair

This weekend the fall fair was in town. Not an overly huge fair but the girls had a fun time just the same.  They were allowed 2 rides as I'm NOT a ride person, so the rides had to be "kid friendly".  These 2 are just like their grandma and would go on "any ride" if they were allowed.

Wagon Rides

Wagon + Kids + Hill = FUN FUN FUN.

Our neighbourhood is a new development and there are only a few houses with people in them at the moment. So a lovely neighbour decided to host a BBQ at their place lastnight. I do believe that adults and kids alike had a ton of FUN.  There had to be about 12-15 kids there lastnight with the oldest at 8yrs and the youngest at 8mo.  We are already planning another "neighbourhood" event.

Hang on!!

Alright who's next??

A work in progress

So I'm not much of a "crafty" sort of person or at least I've never thought of myself as one. However, I'm trying to turn that around and try my hand at being "crafty".  I found a free dresser for the girls' room and am currently restoring it.  I spent the better part of yesterday sanding it down WOW what a mess I made. LOL.  Was fun though. Now to shop for some paint and hardware for it.  Hmm perhaps I'll see what else the sander and I can "redo".

Off the beaten path

Just off the beaten path you'll find a quiet little pond, this pond has some creatures that make you go "hmm" or "yikes" upon first glance. From afar they look "real" when really they are just imitations of the real thing. I'm told there are some really "fun" times at this pond. Makes me wonder how many other "ponds" are just off the beaten path.

Another lovely sunset

Photos at sunset are FUN, tricky for me though. I love sunsets period, my mom asked me "Isn't one sunset the same as another?" I replied "Nope, each one is a bit different." It's been a great weekend, busy but FUN. Girls had tons of combine and truck rides, we helped Grandma clean out her garden and I've got a ton of cucumbers, corn and apples to take home with me.  Thanks for the Fun everyone!!

Supper in the Field!!

We've always ended up eating supper in the field at least once or twice or perhaps more times during harvest. For most it's not the ideal place to eat your evening meal but for me it's GREAT!! Food just seems to taste better under the big blue sky. You can toss any unwanted food on the ground, you don't have to be tidy when you eat, if you spill so what!! The funny thing is there's hardly any food leftover to bring home when we eat in the field. Guess it's not just me who likes to eat there. My girls were THRILLED to eat under the big blue sky!! Tonight was sandwiches but I can remember taking full course meals complete with wash water to the field. Yes indeedy I LOVE Harvest!!

Tastes Great hey Ely!
